Die­ter has a sub­stan­ti­al prac­ti­ce fo­cu­sed on insu­rance and ship­ping. His work in the­se fields in­cludes high va­lue insu­rance and car­ria­ge of goods li­ti­ga­ti­on and com­plex tran­sac­tion­al work. Die­ter has pro­found know­ledge and ex­pe­ri­ence of the law of insu­rance and reinsu­rance and acts for insu­rance com­pa­nies in com­plex is­sues of co­vera­ge un­der po­li­ci­es of all kinds. Die­ter al­so ad­vi­ses insu­rance com­pa­nies re­gar­ding the draf­ting of terms of co­ver and on re­gu­la­to­ry is­sues re­le­vant to es­tab­li­shing an insu­rance busi­ness in Ger­ma­ny. Die­ter is re­gu­lar­ly in­s­truc­ted by ship ow­ners and banks to ad­vi­se on lar­ge and hea­vi­ly-struc­tu­red ship fi­nan­ce pro­jects, whe­ther for the res­truc­tu­ring of distres­sed pro­jects or in con­nec­tion wi­th the sourcing of pri­va­te equi­ty in for­eign ju­ris­dic­tions for new pro­jects. Die­ter ad­vi­ses sup­pli­ers and buy­ers in all mat­ters of ship­buil­ding. Die­ter re­pres­ents sea, road and rail car­ri­ers, car­go in­te­rests and their insu­r­ers in car­ria­ge of goods li­ti­ga­ti­on, and is fre­quent­ly ap­poin­ted as ar­bi­tra­tor in Ger­man and in­ter­na­tio­nal ar­bi­tra­ti­ons.

The in­ter­na­tio­nal­ly re­now­ned „Who’s Who Le­gal“ in its 2018 Ger­ma­ny edi­ti­on lis­ted Die­ter Arm­brust as TOP-la­wy­er in ma­ri­ti­me law as well as high­light­ing his ex­cel­lence in insu­rance, re-insu­rance, li­ti­ga­ti­on and tran­sac­tions. The Ger­man Han­dels­blatt award­ed Die­ter the title “La­wy­er of the year” in the field of insu­rance law as part of its na­ti­on-wi­de ran­king for “Germany’s best la­wy­ers” in 2014 and 2015. In 2018 Die­ter was award­ed the title “La­wy­er of the year” in trans­port law, in re­co­gni­ti­on of his out­stan­ding re­pu­ta­ti­on al­so in this field, and ad­di­tio­nal­ly as one of Ger­ma­ny “best la­wy­ers” in insu­rance and ma­ri­ti­me law bo­th, in 2018 and 2019. Die­ter is sin­gled out in the 2015 edi­ti­on of the Cham­bers gui­de wi­th the fol­lo­wing cli­ent ac­co­la­de: “I ra­te him very high­ly for ma­ri­ne insu­rance work. He is a very good la­wy­er, knows what he’s tal­king about and is a crea­ti­ve thin­ker.”
