Ted is admitted to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales, and advises on English law. He is also admitted to practice as a lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) in Germany and is a member of the Paris Bar. He acts for clients across the entire spectrum of maritime business law, including the offshore wind sector. Ted has extensive experience in matters involving shipbuilding contracts, the purchase and sale of ships, ship finance, charter parties , ship management contractsa, marine insurance as well as complex cross-border disputes.
Ted advises clients in negotiations for plant construction agreements (EPC), e.g. for offshore wind HVDC platforms and charter parties for special-purpose ships. He assists clients in structuring ship acquisition projects, also in the form of leasing models. He advises borrowers and lenders in the structuring and drafting of ship finance documentation. Ted is regularly instructed to act for clients in the negotiation of shipbuilding contracts for all types of vessels, including installation vessels, bulk carriers, tankers, passenger ferries, and superyachts - and on the restructuring and rescission of such agreements in case of default in performance, for example in case of force majeure, and on other disputes arising under those contracts. Ted represents clients in contentious matters, including before London arbitration tribunals. He is responsible for the firm’s Deep Sea Mining department.
Ted is mentioned prominently in the JUVE Handbook 2019/2020 as a frequently recommended lawyer in the area of maritime business law.
